DIY Hunting Cover Scent

I come from a large extended family. My grandpa, his 9 brothers, their sons, grandsons, pretty much all of them…hunters.  They have lots of hunting land and it’s a big part of life for them.

To be honest, I prefer to stick my baby in front of my great uncle’s deer camera for entertainment.  Yet, I am surrounded by folks for whom hunting is an important part of life.  I won’t pretend to know much about it, but I get the basic concept that you don’t want the animal to observe you.  Animals have very attuned senses and that includes the sense of smell. So, let’s make a Hunting Cover Scent Spritzer!

DIY Hunting Cover Scent

You’ll want to choose Essential Oils that are closely related to the environment you are hunting in.  Here are some ideas:

  • Pine
  • Idaho Balsam fir
  • Vetiver
  • Northern Lights Black Spruce
  • Cypress
  • Cedarwood

Supplies:

  • 2 ounce colored glass spritzer
  • Distilled Water, a bit less than 2 ounces
  • 1 Teaspoon Witch Hazel
  • 20 drops of Essential Oil

Steps for DIY Hunting Cover Scent

  1. Pour Witch Hazel into glass spritzer
  2. Pour Essential Oil into glass spritzer
  3. Top off with Distilled Water
  4. Cap & Shake
